31 January 2014 Kuala Lumpur
It was the Chinese New Year celebration again. As time passes on, some festive celebrations are family centered. As usual, the reunion dinner was the night before. I was already thinking about a transformation of using a different airline for my trips this year. I have not used Malindo even though it has been a year or more in service, I think. But when I read up its' website, disappointingly to me the flight going to KL is only available in the evening. I wanted to go in the morning; early morning if possible. Comparing the prices, the times between Malindo, MAS, Air Asia, in the end I had to settle for Air Asia once again which flew direct at 8:30 morning. The journey was pleasant. I had Mee Mamak, a muslim Indian dish. My objective was to go to the Berjaya Times square amusement park. I got a room in Hotel Mactz. A very well centered budget hotel and I did not stay in this hotel for quite some time. I did not make any booking but when I asked there was a room available for RM85.00. It has an attached bathroom and you can use the flask available to fill up the drinking water from the water filter outside free of charge. There is a bath towel. All the basic amenities available plus a working air cond and all these make life comfortable. It is just next to the monorail which I used to go to Berjaya Times Square. As I was waiting to buy the ticket, a boy yelled and made a fuss because his parents were not there to accompany him. An adult ticket cost RM 50 or so plus the usage of the locker to keep your stuff. You are not allowed to bring your bag around because the strap might just get caught and you might be flung from whatever you are in at that moment. So, safety first. I rode on the Octopus. Then I rode on the kids' horse ride, bus ride and car ride. Some of the kids rides are only for kids of a certain height. I did not ride on all the other rides because the coaster somehow brings nightmare and some other real fast ride. Next stop, shopping in Mid Valley Mega Mall. As Monday was a working day, I did not spend a long time in KL. Not all the TV screen in Malindo air work. So in a row of three, you have to share watching the film. I ordered the vegetarian curry; another Indian food and it was nice. Malindo uses steel utensils while the other airlines use plastic ones. There was a delay because this is a budget airline and it was already delayed from the previous sector. But using KLIA is better because the terminal is big and it does not look like everyone has to rush or like a busy wet market. Also it has been quite some time I last use KLIA. The second KLIA is coming up and meant for low cost carriers. Hopefully the environment is more systematic than the cargo one now.
